Backlink Profile From Coub.com - Coub is a streaming video platform that can be accessed via the web, iOS and Android. Users can create and share audio-visual collages of up to 10 seconds in length, using videos taken from YouTube, Vimeo, and other video sharing sites or their own videos. In 2012, two brothers Anton And Igor Gladkoborodov. the company began operations at Moscow, Russia. The company announced plans to establish an office in the United States in July 2013 and later moved to New York City. 1 January 2020, the founder of the company Anton Gladkoborodov resigned from the company and CMTT which is the Russian online publishing company which was one of the platforms' minority shareholders was appointed to take over the company. In March 2022 Coub is managed by the CMTT, a "private tech company headquartered in Switzerland".
Coub was established in the year 2012, by Anton and Igor Gladkoborodov as well as the developer Mikhail Tabunov. Coub's title "Coub" comes from Cobb who was the main character in The film Inception. In June of 2013, Coub raised $1 million in additional capital from venture capitalists Brothers Ventures and Phenomen Ventures as well as announced its plans to create the company's first U.S. office. The iOS application was released in December 2013 and offered the capability to record and upload an uploaded "coub" directly from an iPhone camera along with filters that are similar to those found on Instagram. As of April 2014 more than 400,000 videos or "coubs" have been created. In July 2014, Coub was able to raise $2.5 million in funding from Vaizra Investments, a fund created by Lev Leviev and Vyacheslav Mirilashvili who founded VK.com which is Russia's main Facebook rival.
In January of 2020, Coub.com's founder Anton Gladkoborodov left, with the sole control of operations and ownership over Coub.com handed over to the Russian publishing company called "Comitet" that manages media portals vc.ru, TJ, and DTF.
It was made public on March 15 2022, 2022, that from April 1st, 2022 Coub was to cease operations. However, despite the news, the announcement was not made public. The banner displaying the message was later taken down and the site remains in operation until the 1st of April. On April 5, a new banner was displayed that reads "Coub will keep living and evolving with the new team. Stay tuned". The 18th of April, Coub's recently established official Telegram channel revealed that the new owners have been identified as the "private tech company headquartered in Switzerland".
